A Gentle Hand

Luz Bamer, 93, receives a gentle hand from her daughter-in-law Toni Bamer, 51, getting to the dinner table at home in Oxnard. Bamer, who lives with dementia, attends Among Friends Adult Day Care Center while her son Charlie Bamer, also 51, works as a maintenance man commuting to Goleta and her daughter-in-law does clerical work locally. Should the California state budget cut for In Home Supportive Services go through, the day care center will close and Toni Bamer says she most likely will need to quit her job to care for Luz Bamer.
