Everyone stands to pray as a day begins at Lebec Christian School, including Joanna McBride, left foreground and Aubrey Hurst. The new four-car garage has been converted into two classrooms, one for grades one through six, the other seven through 10. A decade ago Pastor Isaac Martin began the small Mennonite community in Lebec, an area in the far eastern reaches of Ventura County. Today the Mennonites number well over 50 and stick to the fundamentals of their religion, living as they believe God intended.
