At 3:00 Tuesday morning, December 5, 2017, the Thomas Fire spreads over the landscape along Santa Paula Road gaining momentum in every direction in Ventura County, Calif. High winds drove flames 14 miles from its Santa Paula origin to Ventura overnight. The blaze would become the state’s largest fire on record burning 440 square miles, destroying 1,063 structures and taking two lives including one firefighter.
